Delivery and Assessment

For the theory component of the course, resources are:

• Online: benefit from an easy to navigate elearning course. Online is interactive,
  meaning less readings and more visually engaging resources.
• Resources can be printed or provided on a USB stick if needed.

Assessment consists of two key areas:

• Theory assessment: multi-choice and short answer questions.
• Practical engineering project (Create a fully operational Go Kart, Drone or Robot): Adapt has several “standard” projects students can undertake, or the school can discuss the inclusion of specific projects that will benefit the school, such as beautification or maintenance projects around the school.

Entry Requirements

• It is an expectation that you will have access to a computer/tablet/phone and the internet. Please discuss with Adapt if this is an issue as strategies can be put in place to assist.
• It is expected that students have well developed Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills. Students who do not meet the minimum LLN requirements for this course will be provided a range of options and strategies to assist.

One of the great attractions of engineering work is the huge variety of tasks and environments in which engineers find themselves working here and overseas.

From designing programs at a computer terminal, to overseeing maintenance operations for major structures like aircraft, ships, heavy earth moving equipment, mobile cranes and offshore oil platforms – there are many ways to be involved in engineering

One of the main disciplines Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering turns energy into power and motion. Mechanical Engineers design, create and improve systems and machinery that is used for domestic, public and industrial purposes.

Student Contribution Fees

If you have been referred to this course by a Job Active Provider or other employment service, the student contribution fee listed below may be paid by them. Please discuss with your job network if this applies to you.

• $0 for school based students who qualify for VETiS funding
• $50 ($4.16/unit) for concessional card holders who qualify for the Certificate 3 Guarantee subsidy
• $100 ($8.33/unit) for non concessional students who qualify for the Certificate 3 Guarantee subsidy
• $2500 for a standard fee paying student.

• This course is an approved lower level qualification through the Queensland Government’s Certificate 3 Guarantee subsidy.
  • Students are only eligible for one subsidised Certificate III level training place
  • The Queensland Government Certificate 3 Guarantee student factsheet is available here
• This qualification is Centrelink approved, meaning eligible participants may be able to receive Austudy, Abstudy, the Education Supplement, Newstart, Youth Allowance, or the Disability Supplement.
• This qualification is approved for VET in Schools funding.
  • VETiS qualifications can be undertaken in years 10, 11 and 12, and can count towards the Queensland Certificate of Education and ATAR rankings.
  • Students can access one funded qualification while at school.
• All funded students are required to complete a Training and Employment student survey.
