Become a teacher aide! In this course you will develop an understanding of learning difficulties, disabilities and the range of diverse students you are likely to come in contact with. You will develop the skills to manage student behaviour and learning as well as learning strategies to support a teacher run an effective classroom. This qualification is suitable for those currently working or aspiring to work in an educational setting. This includes public, private and independent schools and community education settings where the provision assistance and support to teachers and students is required.

This is a Nationally Recognised qualification. Enrolments can be accepted from students in all States and Territories of Australia.

  • Training modes for this qualification include: self paced online, self paced correspondence, or blended delivery
  • For those not currently working in an educational setting, a minimum of 100 hours practical placement (work experience) in an educational setting must be achieved. Additional hours (up to 100) may be required for school based students, students on a traineeship, Early School Leavers or those that have been assessed as having limited work/life experience so as to allow more time to develop skills in a work setting.

Duration

In most instances you will have up to 2 years to complete this qualification. Being self-paced study you can enrol at any time and progress at any speed you like without the stress of due dates and rigid class time tables. Study duration depends on the hours you put in and your skill level. As a guide, someone dedicating 8 hours per week to study, could expect to complete the assessment component of the course in 7 – 10 months.

Note: students receiving government funding may be obligated to complete the program in a shorter time frame:

  • Centrelink (education supplement): Full time 40 weeks, part time 70 weeks
  • Traineeship: Full time up to 24 months, part time up to 48 months
  • Certificate 3 Guarantee: self-paced up to 24 months
Cost

Self-paced online or self-paced correspondence mode of study:

  • $1980  for a standard fee paying student; or
  • $500   for a student eligible to receive the Certificate 3 Guarantee; or
  • $400  for a concession card holder eligible to receive the Certificate 3 Guarantee; or
  • $0  for a student eligible to receive the Certificate 3 Guarantee Yr12 fee free

Payment plans are offered at no additional cost! That’s right, you DO NOT pay more if you opt for a payment plan. You nominate the payment periods (i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly). You nominate the amount you are comfortable paying (i.e. $50, $100, $200, etc.).

Requirements
  • It is an expectation that you will have access to a computer and the internet to complete the assessment requirements of the course. Please discuss with Adapt if this is an issue as strategies can be put in place to assist.
  • It is expected that students have well developed Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills. Students who do not meet the minimum LLN requirements for this course will be provided a range of options and strategies to assist.

First Aid

Apart from being a crucial life skill, having up-to-date First Aid certification can improve your employability. You have the option of selecting HLTAID003 Provide first aid as an elective unit within this course. Note: selecting this unit is not mandatory. Adapt Education does not deliver this unit however you are able to complete it with any provider in Australia. Simply present your certificate to us on completion and we will credit the unit towards your Education Support course.

Some important points to consider if selecting HLTAID003 Provide first aid as an elective:

  • The cost of the first aid unit is not included in Adapt Education’s course fee. You will need to pay the listed course fee to your selected first aid provider.
  • Ensure the you are booking into a first aid course that includes the nationally recognised unit HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
