This program has an articulation arrangement for the Bachelor of Child, Youth and Family Practice with Griffith University. On successful completion of this program you may apply to the university to receive 50CP credit transfer awarded towards the Bachelor. Students can complete the Griffith degree in 190CP (2.5 year), commencing in Trimester 1 or 2.

OSHC Course Details

  • Training modes for this qualification include: self paced online, or blended delivery.
  • For those not currently working in an educational setting, a minimum of 280 hours practical placement (work experience) in an educational setting must be achieved. You can arrange your own placement or Adapt can arrange one near to you.
  • This qualification is approved for Centrelink’s Education Supplement. View the Government funding page on this website to find out more about the funding.
  • All training, assessment and student services for this course are offered by Adapt Education (RTO# 32452). We do not act as a broker and no aspect of your enrolment will be outsourced to another organisation.

Duration

In most instances you will have up to 2 years to complete this qualification. Being self-paced study you can enrol at any time and progress at any speed you like without the stress of due dates and rigid class time tables. Study duration depends on the hours you put in and your skill level. As a guide, someone dedicating 8 hours per week to study, could expect to complete the assessment component of the course in 8 – 12 months.

Requirements
  • It is an expectation that you will have access to a computer and the internet to complete the assessment requirements of the course. Please discuss with Adapt if this is an issue as strategies can be put in place to assist.
  • It is expected that students have well developed Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills. Students who do not meet the minimum LLN requirements for this course will be provided a range of options and strategies to assist.

Working With Children Check

As working with children is a part of this course, it is required that students obtain clearance from the relevant authority prior to commencing their practical placement.

First Aid

Apart from being a crucial life skill, having up-to-date First Aid certification can improve your employability. One of the core units in this course is HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting.  You may book into an Adapt Education first aid course or you can complete this unit with any first aid provider in Australia. Simply present your certificate to us on completion and we will credit the unit towards your course.

Important points:

  • The cost of the first aid unit is not included in Adapt Education’s course fee. You will need to pay the listed course fee to your selected first aid provider.
  • Ensure you are booking into a first aid course that includes the nationally recognised unit HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting.
