Certificate II in Sport and Recreation

Overview

Gain the skills and confidence you need to get into the Sport and Recreation Industry. In this course the focus is on developing skills and knowledge in coaching, first aid, customer service, maintaining sport and recreation equipment, using POS and other software systems, etc.

Our self-paced study mode means that you can progress at a pace that is comfortable for you without the stress of assessment due dates and rigid class timetables.

Course Details
  • Training modes: self paced online, self paced correspondence, or blended delivery
  • If you are already working in a role that involves sport and recreation, a practical placement will generally not be required. In instances where a student is not currently in a relevant job role, a practical placement of 100hrs should be arranged. Adapt Education can arrange your placement for you or you can arrange your own.
  • The qualification is approved for VET in Schools funding. View the Schools tab on this page for more information.
  • All training, assessment and student services for this course are provided by our partner organisation My Industry Training. Adapt Education (RTO32452) are responsible for quality assurance, compliance and issuing your certificate.
  • In most instances you will have up to 12 months to complete this qualification. Being self-paced study you can enrol at any time and progress at any speed you like without the stress of due dates and rigid class time tables.
  • students receiving government funding may be obligated to complete the program in a shorter time frame. These timeframes will be discussed and agreed to in your Training Plan prior to course commencement.

Payment plans are offered at no additional cost! That’s right, you DO NOT pay more if you opt for a payment plan. All Fees can be incorporated into a payment plan. You nominate the payment periods (i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly). You nominate the amount you are comfortable paying (i.e. $50, $100, $200, etc.). The terms of each payment plan are nominated by you, then approved by us. All payment terms and conditions are agreed to in a direct debit agreement and are in line with National Vocational standards.

Upfront Payments can be made by credit card, bank transfer, cheque, money order or cash. Payment plans are processed with a direct debit system.

Requirements
  • It is an expectation that you will have access to a computer and the internet to complete the assessment requirements of the course. Please discuss with Adapt if this is an issue as strategies can be put in place to assist.
  • It is expected that students have well developed Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills. Students who do not meet the minimum LLN requirements for this course will be provided a range of options and strategies to assist.

First Aid

The unit HLTAID003 Provide first aid is a core unit of this course and must be completed.  You may book into an Adapt Education first aid course or you can complete it with any provider in Australia. Simply present your certificate to us on completion and we will credit the unit towards your course.

Some important points to consider when booking your HLTAID003 Provide first aid course:

  • The cost of the first aid unit is not included in Adapt Education’s course fee. You will need to pay the listed course fee to your selected first aid training provider.
  • Ensure the you are booking into a first aid course that includes the nationally recognised unit HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

 

Schools

VET in Schools

We offer flexible training programs designed and taught by teachers specifically for schools targeting a diverse range of students with an interest in the Sport and Recreation Industry.  We pride ourselves on quality training that aligns with school outcomes and good pedagogy.

Course details:

  • Duration: 4 incursion days per term for 1 year (or structured to suit school timetable) + time scheduled to gain relevant experience performing Sport and Recreation duties (i,e, assistance in carnivals and sports teams).
  • Cost: Free for students who have not accessed VETiS funding or ‘Fee for Service’ can be negotiated dependant on enrolment numbers.
  • Where: All training programs are conducted on school grounds during normal school hours.
  • Equipment:  All resources and equipment required to complete the course are provided.
  • Work Experience: Most experience will be gained by contributing to school sports carnivals and school sports teams. Experience with external organisations can be arranged.
  • Future Pathways: We have in place, exclusive partnerships with industry providing work experience which can lead to employment opportunities.

  • 3 QCE points
  • Access to industry employment opportunities

Note: The course can be delivered to align with the Sport and Recreation SAS course.  Units are mapped to the SAS course and gap assessments are completed to gain the qualification.
